A young woman beats two people with an IV stand and they fall to the floor (it's not clear if they are dead). Two men get something on their hands that causes them to hallucinate one man finds a hypodermic needle containing an antidote and the two men fight over it, leaving one man dead (we see blood on his head and blood in his mouth. Gas is sprayed into a room and a young woman is overcome she gasps and foams at the mouth, and then falls still on the floor. A man uses defibrillator paddles on another man and he falls back onto an exam table thrashing and when he is shocked again he dies. A woman climbs across an upside down pool table hand-over-hand, falls to a piece of floorboard that breaks away under her feet, she grabs onto a telephone receiver and dangles before it breaks and she falls out of sight (we hear a thud). A young man breaks through ice and falls under the surface we see him moving under the ice as people on the surface try to break the ice to pull him out until he eventually floats motionless, implying that he is dead. ► A young woman shoots a man in the back twice (we do not see blood). Paintings on a wall in a room illustrate people dead or dying one depicts a man holding another man's severed head (we see blood at the neck) and another shows a man in an operating theater. A woman flashes back to a war scene where explosions and gunfire sound around her and we see a few dead bodies on the ground with bloody wounds. A man wraps a cord around another man's neck and pulls it to strangle him he holds him off the ground and the second man stabs him with a spike that he pulls out of his own leg. That Moment That Annoyed Me – Not enough focus on the real-time events.įinal Thoughts – This would be a good enough late night movie, it is short and sweet which will feed the horror fans enough.- A man holds a gun to a young woman's head, another man hits the gunman in the head with a bottle, and shoots him man twice (we see him dead with bloody wounds and blood pools under him). Special Effects – The effects are god enough for the film, we get the basic blood and gore working for the film. Settings – The film is mostly set in the one location, the escape room and if it was only set there I would say this is an excellent use of setting, but seeing events outside just drags us down. Horror – Being locked in a room with a killer is always going to throw horror in our faces, this movie shines from that idea, but then it also holds back too much. The supernatural side is never that believable and by the end this does feel like an easy escape room to get out off. The problem here is that, this real-time experience doesn’t feel real time and having to watch someone on the outside just makes us think lawsuit. Story – The story here shows us what would happen is an escape room experience went terribly wrong, with possession being a key part of this. The younger stars do there best to make an impact and due to the basic characters we never see their performance skills. Sean Young is more of a cameo performance which could have been done by anyone. Performances – Skeet Ulrich became a horror icon with his performance in Scream, here he just looked mostly lost in the leading role, because he is meant to be on edge and you never feel it.

Ramona is the owner of the mysterious box which opens the doors for the nightmare. When the camera goes out he is left wondering what will happen to his reputation if he opens the door early or what is going on. Story: Escape Room starts as four friends Jess (Donlon), Jeff (Wayne), Ben (McVay) and Angie (Gallegos) are taking part in an escape room run by Brice (Ulrich), an experience which will revolve around horror.Īs the hour long experience starts, it seems to be going well until the mysterious killer in the room turns out to be a real killer, leaving the friends needing to figure out how to escape before the time runs out.Ĭharacters – Brice is the owner of the escape rooms, he has been struggling of recent times, but with this latest player he hopes to improve his rating.
